Byam is very tired, as 3.5 hours of pheasant hunting took a bit of energy off. Byam had six points. Byam was in the creek holding a bird steady after it ran. And then she was talking as the bird took off running.

Penny 5 got her 1st senior pass on with 3 quail and 1 hen finds (they didn't plant the hen), 1 good retreive (they couldn't hit the other quail),and a back of a shorthair...she left a little early before the gun went off on her 2nd quail so she didn't pass yesterday. Byam's breeder Doug let us know - Byam's brother is a winner! Rhett acheived 4th Place in the US Open Juvenile Competition with 4 pheasants and 4 retreives in a time of 5 minutes 15 sec. His picture is on the website - http://www.wingshooters.us/

He and we are so proud of Rhett and "a nice piece of iron that he won".

Byam had four points this morning but I did not get photos today. She held the birds great today...one was so tight that I was in front of her nose before it flew and I could not even see the bird on ground. Very windy here today some birds took off as soon as we entered the field out the other end. Good day but every field was full at the hunt club. Byam worked well with the three other dogs two GSP and one griffon. Byam was one of three dogs on point in heavy cover each dog came into the cover from each side. The other three birds she ponted she was the first dog to find the bird and the other dogs backed her on two points. The last point was her point only.

I was quite surprised. Byam was very nervous about being on the ferry. Lake Champlain was very calm with no whitecaps, but she was shaking and had the tinest little sad whimper. When we opened the window on the Jeep and could see this second ferry, then she was very comfortable.

We had a great time among all the vintage trailers - Airstreams. And the setting on the shores of the Missouri River were perfect, although very hot weather we all had a great time! We even had lunch at Archie's vintage diner -with one amazing woman taking orders and cooking for all of us - mmmmm!

Photos of Byam's new siblings! Byam was this tiny, with the little flap-ears, belly so smooth, and even the pads on her feet as tender as baby's skin. I remember her mouth and nose exploring the world, before her puppy eyes focused. Sleeping, eating, and about 5 minutes of play before sleeping again.

If Byam had a brother, I'd have to call him Wally.

Byam's mother, Penny had her second pregnancy. And this is very exciting - another 10 puppies are living with Penny, and her boy Doug. Doug will have his hands full helping Penny with feeding and caring for Byam's 9 new brothers and 1 new sister. So for anyone keeping count, Byam now has 7 sisters and 12 brothers!!
We wish Doug, Penny and all 10 the very best and hope to have photos very soon!

Poor baby! A tiny thorn, smaller than 1/8" long started an infection in her right front paw. The thorn is now gone, and Byam is feeling much better after sleeping off the pain killer - she insisted on lying up on top of the desk.
