Sister Power!

From Byam's Mom & "Dad"

Tell Byam her sister " Rae" has become the first ever Grand Dual Champion. She just earned enough extra field trial points to become a grand field champion and she already had her grand show champion title(show champion with extra points). So she now has the first ever brittany grand dual champion title. Linda e-mailed me today.

I had a good weekend ...last week end and picked up a couple master hunter passes on Byam's 1/2 sister, "Star".

News from Byam's Sisters - Penny5 and Rae

Byam's breeder sent this information and photo!

...with Penny5(Sis) in ND opening week end (didn't have a camera with that day so we didn't get any pictures). I've been doing a lot of hunting with the 5 dogs, but it has been pretty tough this year. I haven't shot a bird in my county this year. I got 7 in ND, 10 from 50 miles north of where I live, 3 down by Lincoln, and 9 birds  in 3 trips to a  shooting preserve. NOT MANY BIRDS FOR THE MILES I"VE PUT ON MY TRUCK AND ON MY LEGS. Anyway the dogs are having fun.

Linda's Rae female (Byam's sis) ended up as the #3 Brittany gun dog in the US this year. She was leading the point standings in the Magnum's Masked Man Award  half way thru the field trial season, but dropped to 3rd in the standings at the end. She had a real good season and Linda & Tommy were pretty proud of her.

Don't know much else, so I'm going to quit.  Later,        Doug

Decided to attach a picture of Penny5---it was from last year, but just pretend it was birds she got this year  :-)

Byam's Family Update!!!!!!!!!!!!

From Byam's Breeder -

"...I've been running around trying to get everything ready for our Pheasants Forever Youth/Mentor hunt that is coming up this Saturday. Mom (Penny4), Sis (Penny 5), and Shooter will each get a run with a couple of kids. We turn 5 rooster loose for each 2 kids and then hunt them with a dog. It's fun for the kids and dogs but not many phez are killed. I think the best year the kids had was getting 13 pheasants out of the 40 that were turned loose. we only give the kids 1 shell at a time(for safety) and they are very good shots. Since it isn't open season yet we have to get special permission from the game and parks commission.

...I started running Penny5 towards her master title and she is 2/6 the way there---I need 4 more passes for the title. ...she won't have any more chances this year.

...ND opener on Oct 12th.

...NE opener on the 28th. The dogs will be busy...I'll let you know how Mom & Sis do this year.

...Byam's sister, Rae, was leading the Brittany gun dog point standings half way thru the year. I hope she hangs on and wins---but it will really be tuff to do as there are only 50 points difference in the top 3 dogs.

...a sister, Bolt (F3)...She is now in Montana and will be hunted a lot on birds...doing what she loves..

Penny4 (8 years old) is starting to slow down. She just doesn't cover as much ground as she used to---but she still has a good nose. Penny5 probably has the best nose of any Brittany I've had. She points so far away that sometimes in the hunting tests it's real hard finding the quail she is pointing, since they are pen raised birds they want to stay hid instead of flying like wild quail would.

I check Byam's blog every once in a while to see what she has been up to. Looks like she is still doing a little traveling.  I hope she has a good year for pheasants...

Keep in touch.   Later, Doug "

Doug I again want to thank you for choosing us for one of your Brittany Spaniels - we love Byam!!!

More Great News from Byam's Breeder!

S & K---
Tell Byam that her sister, "Rae", won the International
Shooting Dog Championship today [April 2nd] and finished her AKC dual title. This was also an American Field event so she is now a 1X American Field Champ. Earlier this year she finished her Grand Champion show title (this is a new title--it is a show championship Plus 10 extra show points).  Linda is thrilled.
I hope Byam's birthday hunt at the shooting preserve went well and she got a lot of birds :-)

Tri-State Vintage Trailer Rally - Iowa Nebraska South Dakota

Byam's new friend, Jessie a Springer Spaniel puppy. Finally someone who can keep up with Byam's Brittany Spaniel energy!

We had a great time among all the vintage trailers - Airstreams. And the setting on the shores of the Missouri River were perfect, although very hot weather we all had a great time! We even had lunch at Archie's vintage diner -with one amazing woman taking orders and cooking for all of us - mmmmm!

Nine Brothers and One Sister - Baby Photos!

Photos of Byam's new siblings! Byam was this tiny, with the little flap-ears, belly so smooth, and even the pads on her feet as tender as baby's skin. I remember her mouth and nose exploring the world, before her puppy eyes focused. Sleeping, eating, and about 5 minutes of play before sleeping again.

If Byam had a brother, I'd have to call him Wally.
